Ethan Maxwell :: 2.5 years old
This kid. Let me tell you. He sure knows how to do two. One minute he’s being all sweet and giving you kisses, telling you he loves you. And then the next minute his face changes. It becomes serious. He starts to growl and furrows his brow. He stomps his feet, swings his arms and slowly charges after you. Most of the time he’s being playful and just wants to wrestle with you. But sometimes, he’s hurt or offended and will actually swing punches or kicks. He’s very different from Micah at two. Ethan is very independent and determined, mostly thanks to having a big brother to look up to, I imagine. He is also fueled to do stuff, sometimes, by the fact that he’s just not allowed to do it (as pictured above). He very much dotes on his big brother still and daddy is still the favorite. Also following in his brother’s footsteps is his love of trucks. He will often hear a truck coming down the street and will run to the door to see it drive past.
Micah Alan :: 4.5 years
Pictured here with one of two of his latest obsessions, the other being legos. Micah loves breakfast. But I think he might love legos more. Not much keeps Micah from breakfast, but legos sure can! He’s really good at creating things from his imagination as opposed to using the directions. He’s not so much my baby anymore. He continues to have a very tender and sensitive disposition unlike his rough and tough brother. That difference in personality is probably the source of most of their disagreements. He’s mastering riding his bike and looking forward to preschool in the fall.
let’s keep things light and happy this morning.
last week, we had the boys well visits. yes, i took all three boys for their well visits: micah’s four year, ethan’s two year and william’s one month. i love our pediatrician’s office. i’ve taken to seeing the same pa every time, if possible. she even agreed to do all three in one visit, which the doctor/pa has to give approval for more than two checks at one visit.
because i took all three boys, by myself, they gave me two nurses to help me out. again, another reason why i love my pediatrician. micah got four shots, ethan one and william two. that was fun. said no mom ever. but we went for donuts after and that made everything better.
so here’s the fun comparison! another reason our pediatrician’s office is awesome is that i can go online and access all of the boys info. i don’t need to write it down anymore! i can go onto their website and give you the boys’ height and weight since birth.
so, at birth:
micah – 7’13” and 21″
ethan – 7’6″ and 21″
william – 7’14” and 20.75″
at one month:
micah – 10’1″ and 21.5″
ethan – 9’7″ and 22″
william – 9’6″ and 22.25″
at two years:
micah – 27″ and 33.5″
ethan – 25’6″ and 31.5″
at four years:
micah – 35’4″ and 39.75″
so, ethan is my tiny boy. he’s in the third percentile for height and eighteenth for weight.
oh ethan. you are our spirited, fun-loving, thrill-seeking, danger-finding boy. in fact, everything about you is boy, to your core. the only fear you have comes from copying your (older) brother’s fears. you definitely have your own personality. and you are determined to find trouble. just this morning, you went outside by yourself, found matches, climbed up on top of micah’s bunk bed to jump on it (all in a twenty minute span of nursing william and changing him from a spit up mess). i’m pretty sure there’s a meme that says something like, “things you never thought you’d have to say as a mom: ‘stop licking your brother’s face'”. yup, said that one this morning in target! the other night as i was trying to snuggle you before bed, and held you like a baby, like i used to do, many moons ago, you found great joy in pretending to kick me with your leg. you love to make people laugh! and you make us laugh every day.
