happy friday from this goofy boy who’s all about taking pictures of things he loves these days. also, according to ethan, being a “big boy” means running around doing karate naked 🤔 not sure where he got that idea from… certainly not jerry! what are you up to this weekend? we’re celebrating cinco de mayo tonight with authentic mexican from a grocery store in mount lebanon. then a birthday party for the boys, a nother’s day brunch for me, and hopefully finishing building the garden.
how pretty is this dress!
this facebook sale group has saved me some money. and let’s be honest, spent some of my money too.
pittsburgh drivers really are the worst. sorry friends. it’s true. the “pittsburgh left”?! soooooo dangerous.
i would not mind getting this bouquet. the ranunculus!
we just got the boys a calendar to help them understand time. i think this daily chore chart is next. i’m so bad at giving the kids tasks to do but i know that is a disservice to them.
have a good weekend!
Ethan Maxwell :: 2.5 years old
This kid. Let me tell you. He sure knows how to do two. One minute he’s being all sweet and giving you kisses, telling you he loves you. And then the next minute his face changes. It becomes serious. He starts to growl and furrows his brow. He stomps his feet, swings his arms and slowly charges after you. Most of the time he’s being playful and just wants to wrestle with you. But sometimes, he’s hurt or offended and will actually swing punches or kicks. He’s very different from Micah at two. Ethan is very independent and determined, mostly thanks to having a big brother to look up to, I imagine. He is also fueled to do stuff, sometimes, by the fact that he’s just not allowed to do it (as pictured above). He very much dotes on his big brother still and daddy is still the favorite. Also following in his brother’s footsteps is his love of trucks. He will often hear a truck coming down the street and will run to the door to see it drive past.
Micah Alan :: 4.5 years
Pictured here with one of two of his latest obsessions, the other being legos. Micah loves breakfast. But I think he might love legos more. Not much keeps Micah from breakfast, but legos sure can! He’s really good at creating things from his imagination as opposed to using the directions. He’s not so much my baby anymore. He continues to have a very tender and sensitive disposition unlike his rough and tough brother. That difference in personality is probably the source of most of their disagreements. He’s mastering riding his bike and looking forward to preschool in the fall.
one :: call the midwife. I think I’ve said this before. But I am totally loving it. This season has been so good. My friend is watching it too, and so it is fun to talk about it with her. Our texts are basically, “did you watch last nights episode?” “Yes I did I sobbed at such and such moment and such and such moment” “me too!” Sunday night I made myself some popcorn and a decaf latte and covered myself in a cozy, soft blanket. Jerry came in and said, “well you’ve got quite the set up there!”
two :: Ethan. All three boys have gotten a fever this week. Ethan came in bed with us Sunday night. Then yesterday he got up early from nap before he was ready. So he sat with me on the couch and fell back asleep. It was really sweet until William woke up 20 minutes later and I had to get up. When he’s not sick, he’s got two pretty polar opposite attitudes. Sometimes, he’s really sweet, and gives you lots of hugs and kisses, and tells you that he loves you in earnest. Other times, he gets feisty, charges at you with a growling face and is ready to fight. I’m not really sure what brings each of these out other tan to say #thisistwo. I love both Ethan’s equally. The one makes my mama heart swoon, and the other usually gives my tired and weary mama heart a good laugh.
three :: Mccormick’s montreal seasoning. It’s grilling season! I put this on basically any meat (even in our burgers) and serve it alongside some veggies and a carb.
four :: podcasts. Particularly one called Serial. But also that you can listen to them at time and a half. Friends just told me about this not too long ago and… mind blow.
five :: I’ve added arm and shoulder dumbbell and an abs routine to my workout routine. I’m not one to enjoy working out, or sticking with it other than running (except when I’m pregnant), but since Jerry has gotten some weights, I find it easier to stick with.
